Founded in 1912 under the name Union of courses in France, the French Golf Federation is an association by law and was declared a public utility April 9, 1975 and approved by the Ministry of Sports.

The ffgolf is responsible, under the supervision of the Ministry of Sports, to organize and promote the practice of the discipline in its territory. Articles L.131-8 and L.131-14 of the Code of Sport that federations receive the approval of the State of those who received, in addition, delegation of its powers.
